Tjarks' piece in the ringer was such a moving piece. I hope and pray his cancer can be cured. Thanks for having him as a guest - great fun. As an avid WWII history junkie, I'm now inspired to find some old guys and get their takes. And Ethan, if you need some post-M.A.D. excitement, something like Skunk Works would be a good read. I particularly enjoyed the irony that a Soviet Scientist effectively invented the math framework needed for modern stealth development and the Soviet Ministry of Defense let him publish openly (what an oversight). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyotr_Ufimtsev
Good podcast except the end off hand comment about the goal is to win championships. That’s a concept that needs to be explored in this space. Seems like lip service when the real goal is to triple the value of the team, make a semi big fish even bigger (Lacob) have a halfway entertaining product so LaMelo can sponsor the local car dealership, & maybe a championship is one lever to help keep people coming back.
Perhaps almost winning a championship most years is a great marketing mechanism so that interest is always high & hope springs eternal
Regarding what you guys were saying about Carlisle, I have a friend who worked closely with the family that owned the Pistons at the time when he was coaching there. The story they tell is the reason let him go, despite the success he had, was that he was extremely disrepsectful to the low level office staff who worked there.

I really enjoyed this one. The bit about locker-room cancer vs on-floor cancer was hilarious.
